Strict action against those who supply poor eggs to Anganwadis

When the issue of distribution of rotten eggs to barangays and pregnant women in the Anganwadi center came to light, Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar said that she has instructed the authorities to blacklist those who distributed rotten eggs.

Apart from that, I have instructed to remove such suppliers from the supply list as well. Due to the decentralization of procurement, eggs are being purchased at the village panchayat level as well. It has been noticed that the purchase is taking place without any control.

The suppliers who supply eggs to the Anganwadi centers seem to have no reins. He said that whoever commits a mistake will be blacklisted and will be discussed in the cabinet.

A decentralization model of procurement does not supply honestly. In this regard, steps will be taken to centralize the purchasing system. He also informed that a task force will be formed and monitored. Purchase from private as well as government organizations is contemplated. He said that all proposals will be scrutinized thoroughly and action will be taken.
